Flights

Domestic and International flights are available to Lombok mainland. From the Lombok International Airport, we can arrange an airport transfer that includes a private air-conditioned car ride to Teluk Kombal Wharf (North Lombok) then a 15-20 minute speedboat ride to Gili Trawangan Island.

The drive from the airport to Teluk Kombal Wharf is a scenic 1.5 hour drive through Lombok’s cities, villages and beautiful coastline (Senggigi) or if you would prefer to take the trip inland you can request a trip through the tropical Pusuk Monkey Forest and rice-fields.

Speedboat from Lombok

All our Ombak Hotels offer our Sonic Fleet, our iconic yellow Speedboats that do an hourly transfer to and from Lombok to Gili Air and the neighbouring, Gili Trawangan. For your convenience, transfers from both locations every hour, we also offer chartered transfers outside scheduled times.

Horse Cart

Boats from Bali or Lombok will dock at the Gili Trawangan Public Harbour which is approximately 1km from Hotel Ombak Sunset. From here we suggest to take a cidomo (horse-cart) which will cost about Rp.150,000 (just over US$10).

Kindness to Horses

Each cidomo (horse cart & its horse) is owned by its driver, and therefore as a Hotel we are unable to regulate this service.

What we can do, however, is be responsible when taking a cidomo ride. We ask guests to be mindful of not overloading the cidomo – we would suggest getting two if traveling in a family or group or with lots of luggage.

At Island Leisure Indonesia and Hotel Ombak Sunset we are concerned for the welfare of the horses on the island: we do suggest to do a brief check of the horse to make sure it is healthy and happy before embarking on your journey. A good sign is no ribs showing, no head to the ground (indicating tiredness) and no open wounds or sores. The horse should look alert (head up) and lean but muscular.

We hope that each driver will be inspired to take better care of their horses, if they notice that guests are choosing the happier, healthier looking horses.
